Lil Baby has come under scrutiny from the Atlanta Police Department, which linked him to the fatal shooting of two teenagers during a music video shoot.

On Wednesday, Atlanta PD held a press conference discussing the deaths of Jakody Davis and Lamon Freeman. While they did not mention Lil Baby by name, their description of an “Atlanta-based rapper” matched him. Authorities accused him of reckless behavior that allegedly set the stage for the violence.

“Gang violence that was orchestrated by adults,” Major Ralph Woolfolk stated. “And the cowardly acts of an Atlanta-based rapper who decided to go into a rival gang stronghold in a place he knew he should not have been.” Channel 2 Action News later confirmed that Lil Baby was the rapper in question. Woolfolk also emphasized that law enforcement is determined to hold him accountable. “This team will work relentlessly to hold you accountable,” he said. The police department has since offered a $50,000 reward for information on the shooting.

What Happened During Lil Baby’s Video Shoot?

The shooting took place in May 2024, during Lil Baby’s music video shoot near Verbena Street in northwest Atlanta. Officers arrived at the scene to find three people shot, including the two teens who later died. Police later confirmed that the violence erupted during the production of Baby’s video.

“Preliminary investigation indicates that the incident occurred during a video shoot,” the department stated. Investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit have been working to uncover the details surrounding the incident.

Major Woolfolk further clarified that the victims were not part of Lil Baby’s production team. “The people who were shot were not part of the video production team, but there may have been individuals involved in the totality of the production,” he told FOX 5 Atlanta.

Lil Baby has yet to respond to Atlanta PD’s accusations.
