ASAP Rocky Not Scheduled To Testify At His Court Proceeding
ASAP Rocky’s assault trial is expected to conclude this week in Los Angeles, but the rapper will not be testifying in his own defense.
According to court reporter Meghann Cuniff, Rocky’s attorney, Joe Tacopina, confirmed that his client would not take the stand. When asked by Judge Mark Arnold, the rapper stated he “absolutely” agreed with the decision and formally waived his right to testify.
Rocky is facing two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in connection to an alleged incident from November 2021. He is accused of firing shots at his former friend, ASAP Relli. If convicted, he could face up to 24 years in prison.
A$AP Rocky will NOT testify in his gun assault trial.
I’m in the courtroom here in Los Angeles, and Judge Mark Arnold asked Rocky’s lawyer Joe Tacopina and moments ago if he has any additional witnesses, and Tacopina answered no.
“You do not intend to call Mr. Mayers?”
“No.”

ASAP Rocky’s Defense Strategy
Rocky’s legal team argues that he only fired warning shots from a prop gun in an attempt to stop ASAP Illz from being attacked by Relli. Tacopina previously stated that although Rocky could legally carry a firearm, he chose not to, fearing it could lead to harm.
With court proceedings paused on Wednesday, closing arguments are set to take place on Thursday before the case is handed over to the jury.
Rihanna’s Support & Music Updates
Throughout the trial, Rihanna has shown support for Rocky, attending key hearings, including a significant testimony on January 30. She has continued to make appearances in recent weeks, and the couple has been spotted out together in Los Angeles following court sessions.
Meanwhile, both Rocky and Rihanna are gearing up for highly anticipated album releases. Rocky’s last full-length project, Testing, dropped in 2018, but he has already announced plans for his fourth studio album, Don’t Be Dumb. Rihanna, while yet to officially announce a follow-up to 2016’s Anti, has hinted at working on new music multiple times in recent years.
