Akon Speaks Out On The Truth Behind Akon City Headlines
(WWETV) – International superstar Akon is once again speaking on the progress of his ambitious Akon City project, dismissing the latest round of headlines claiming the Senegalese government has abandoned the futuristic city.
Speaking during an interview with Philadelphia radio host Mina SayWhat on the Mina’s House Podcast, Akon firmly pushed back against claims that the project had stalled or been derailed. According to the Senegalese-American mogul, the narrative surrounding Akon City’s supposed failure is rooted in false information spread by the media.
“We’re still building it,” Akon told Mina. “It’s something that goes beyond the capabilities of what they think one man can create.”
The music and business icon further explained that dreams of this scale take vision, patience, and dedication. While Akon City began its development in 2020 after finalizing agreements with Senegal, progress takes time. He described the media coverage as being part of a broader agenda aimed at discrediting transformative projects like his.
Akon’s Battle Against Media Agendas
During the conversation, Mina SayWhat asked if Akon had plans to issue a formal press release to counter the negative stories. Akon responded candidly about the challenges of combating false narratives online.
“You can’t fight the internet. I got teams on it trying to combat all the negative, false information people are putting out. Just last week, there were 23 million false ads about Akon City,” he revealed.
Akon believes these attacks stem from powerful interests working to protect outdated systems of control.
“It’s the agendas. The powers that be. That’s how it works. When they want to destroy something that can change the mindset of people, that’s how they do it — through the media.”
Despite the negativity, Akon remains optimistic that people will use common sense and patience when evaluating the reality of such a massive project.
“A city isn’t built in a day… or a month, or a year. It requires money, time, resources, and people who believe in it as much as you do.”

Akon City’s foundation is centered on cryptocurrency and renewable energy, primarily solar power. These innovations align with Akon’s mission to help Africa develop sustainable, futuristic infrastructure.
The artist also touched on Africa’s historic struggles, citing how external powers have exploited the continent for generations.
“Africa’s been getting r*ped for so long by the West. The last thing they can afford is for Africa to wake up and start developing itself.”
Yet, Akon remains confident in Africa’s potential. With 65% of the population under 21, he believes the continent’s future is youth-driven and inevitable.
“We have all the resources to power ourselves, generate our own income, create our own wealth. Africa is the future, 100%.”
