Cam’ron Sues J. Cole Over “Ready ‘24” Collaboration Fallout
Cam’ron Takes J. Cole to Court Over “Ready ‘24”
Rapper Cam’ron has officially filed a lawsuit against J. Cole, alleging that the Dreamville founder failed to live up to a verbal deal related to their 2024 track “Ready ‘24.”
According to TMZ, Cam claims he contributed his verse to the song under an agreement that Cole would either guest on his and Mase’s sports talk show, It Is What It Is, or collaborate on one of Cam’s upcoming projects. More than a year after the track’s release, Cam says neither commitment has been met.
Inside the “Ready ‘24” Agreement
The filing states that the two artists initially recorded “Ready ‘24” in 2022 and stayed in touch afterward. Despite multiple follow-ups from Cam’ron, J. Cole reportedly said he was “too busy” or “unavailable” to appear on It Is What It Is.
As a result, Cam argues that he was never fairly compensated for his contribution. The Harlem rapper is now asking a judge to name him co-author of the track, which would allow him to collect royalties and profits earned from the song’s release.
At the time of publishing, J. Cole has not publicly responded to the lawsuit.
J. Cole’s Mixtape and Album Delays
J. Cole released “Ready ‘24” as part of his surprise 2024 mixtape, Might Delete Later. The project reignited fan anticipation for his long-delayed album, The Fall Off, which has been in the works for several years.
Although Cole hinted that The Fall Off might debut at this year’s Dreamville Festival, the event concluded with no update.
The Algorithm and Cole’s Recent Moves
Earlier this year, Cole launched a personal blog titled The Algorithm, sparking rumors that an album rollout was near. However, Cole shut those down himself, writing:
“Ib told me some people was thinking this blog meant an album was about to drop. Nahhh. Not exactly. When it’s time for something, you will know. This is not that.”
He added that the platform was simply a space to share documentaries and music he enjoys, not an album teaser.
