The Family Business: Faith, Family, and the Beauty of God’s Timing

Purpose Driven Productions is carving out its own space in faith-based filmmaking with stories that feel both timeless and deeply personal. After warming hearts with A Holiday Blessing, the company is back with its second short film, The Family Business—a heartfelt dramedy that blends family struggles, humor, and God’s grace in a way that feels instantly relatable.

The story picks up where A Holiday Blessing left off, centering on Charlie Smith, a reformed workaholic who discovers a new purpose while running his family’s dry-cleaning business. Charlie’s journey isn’t without challenges, but with his wife Yvette by his side, faith becomes the compass guiding them through life’s daily battles. Adding to the mix, Yvette’s cousin Stacey finds love in an unexpected place with Derek James, a man who shares her passion for living with purpose. It’s these layered storylines—woven with soulful music, laughter, and lessons in patience—that remind audiences that when God delivers, it’s always right on time.

The cast is a blend of returning faces and fresh talent, including Arthur Selders Jr. as Charlie Smith and Jamel Pierre as DeAndrew. They join a wide ensemble—Nelly Jones, Hasiah Thompson, Sonja Busha, Patesha Pippins, Detra Carrera, Lakeitria Davis-Luter, Andrae Paris, Myron Bodie, Tony Carrera, Ralph Garrett, Elliott Stricklin, Dralan Porter, Shameka Selders, Shavonda V. Fields, Zion Stanton, Zacchaeus Stanton, Nicole Lim, along with Tameka Jackson and Ernest Jackson—who bring authenticity and heart to their roles.

Behind the camera are the creative forces of Tameka Jackson and Ernest Jackson. Together, they formed Purpose Driven Productions to breathe new life into feel-good movies that edify Christ. Their mission isn’t just to entertain but to inspire families with stories rooted in faith, perseverance, and love. The Family Business embodies that mission, offering audiences a story that feels both cinematic and personal.

For now, both films—A Holiday Blessing and The Family Business—are exclusively available on YouTube, giving viewers easy access to enjoy these uplifting projects at home.

And the journey is far from over. Purpose Driven Productions is already developing Unpredicted, the third installment in this growing series. Currently in pre-production and slated for release in Spring 2026, the feature-length film will continue building on the stories and characters audiences have grown to love.

With The Family Business, Purpose Driven Productions has given us more than just a film—it’s a reminder of the power of faith, family, and divine timing.
