Diddy’s Team Reaches Out to Donald Trump for Possible Pardon
Diddy’s Legal Team Confirms Outreach to Donald Trump for Presidential Pardon
As Diddy’s legal troubles mount, his legal team has confirmed they’ve reached out to former President Donald Trump in hopes of securing a presidential pardon — though Trump appears unlikely to grant one.
The music mogul, born Sean Combs, is currently facing serious legal challenges after being convicted in July on two counts of interstate transportation for the purpose of prostitution. He faces up to 20 years in prison and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn while awaiting sentencing scheduled for October.
Earlier this week, Combs requested bail from U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian, citing poor conditions at the facility and accusing authorities of singling him out. However, Judge Subramanian denied the motion, stating:
“Even if the flight-or-danger requirement was satisfied, there are no ‘exceptional reasons’ warranting a departure from what Congress has required.”
Amid the ongoing legal proceedings, speculation has emerged over whether Trump would consider using his potential presidential powers to grant Combs a pardon. Back in May, Trump had left the door open, telling reporters:
“I would certainly look at the facts. If I think somebody was mistreated — whether they like me or don’t like me — it wouldn’t have any impact on me.”
However, Trump’s tone has since shifted. In a recent Newsmax interview with Rob Finnerty, the former president dismissed the likelihood of issuing a pardon for his former acquaintance.
“He was very hostile to me,” Trump said, referencing Combs’ comments during Trump’s previous campaigns. “He said some terrible things.”
When asked if he was “more likely a ‘no’ for Combs,” Trump replied, “I would say so.”
Despite this, Diddy’s legal team remains undeterred. In a CNN interview, attorney Nicole Westmoreland confirmed that outreach to Trump has taken place.
“Yes. My understanding is that we have reached out,” Westmoreland told journalist Elizabeth Wagmeister. “I think that Mr. Combs is a very hopeful person, and I believe that he remains hopeful.”
With his sentencing approaching and public pressure mounting, Diddy’s future remains uncertain — but his team appears committed to pursuing all possible legal avenues, including a potential pardon from a former political rival.
