Raekwon 2022Hip-hop fans have been buzzing after an alternate version of Raekwon and Nas’ track “The Omerta” leaked online. In the unreleased version, Nas delivers pointed bars that had fans speculating a potential diss aimed at Harlem rapper Jim Jones.Lyrics such as “Got smoke with me? Beef with yourself” and “You got me confused with your fabricated form of delusion / You’re dusty, need to be b***h-smacked” had the internet debating whether Nas was responding to recent remarks made by Jim Jones.

Context from the Joe & Jada Podcast

The speculation picked up steam following Jim Jones’ appearance on the Joe & Jada podcast, hosted by Fat Joe and Jadakiss. During the episode, Jones reacted to a viral video comparing him to Nas, with a fan claiming Jones had surpassed the Queensbridge MC in relevance.

“As I got in the game, you got to realize that your rivals will be idols,” Jones said. “I’ve developed my own style and my own lane that these kids gravitate toward — just like I gravitated toward Nas when I was younger.”

Jones even acknowledged generational differences, saying, “They don’t really know who Nas is. If they’re 22, they were born in 2003.”

Raekwon Clears the Air

To end the speculation, Raekwon addressed the situation directly during a recent Instagram Live session. According to The Chef, Nas wrote the controversial verse before Jones made his podcast comments — and the verse was ultimately changed to prevent any confusion.

“Nas did not write that verse for Jim. That was a stray shot Jim got hit with,” Raekwon explained. “Y’all made it seem like it was for Jim. Nas wasn’t dissing him. And the reason why he changed it? Because he knew all this s**t was popping up — and he gave me that verse months ago.”

Raekwon added that if the verse was truly meant as a diss, Nas wouldn’t have put it on his track in the first place: “I f**k with Jim. He know I f**k with Jim.”

Final Word

While fans love decoding subliminal bars, Raekwon insists there’s no beef — just a misunderstood verse taken out of context. “The Omerta” remains a showcase of lyrical artistry, not animosity.
