Diddy’s Defense Closes with Bold Claims, Calls Cassie a “Gangster” & Mocks Baby Oil Evidence

June 27, 2025 | Manhattan, NY — As the high-profile federal trial against music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs nears its end, his defense team delivered its closing arguments on Friday, pushing back against government claims of long-standing criminal activity.

Diddy’s attorney Marc Agnifilo addressed the jury directly, accusing federal prosecutors of relying on “innuendo, suggestion, and lifestyle” rather than solid evidence to build their case.

“They took Astroglide and baby oil — and that is the evidence in this case,” Agnifilo said, minimizing the significance of items seized from Diddy’s homes in Los Angeles and Miami during federal raids.

Focus on Lifestyle Over Law, Defense Argues

According to Agnifilo, prosecutors misrepresented Diddy’s persona and used his celebrity lifestyle to paint a distorted picture of criminality. He acknowledged that his client has struggled with drug addiction and could be a demanding employer, but maintained that none of these qualities amounted to criminal behavior.

In a controversial moment, the defense conceded that Diddy assaulted Cassie Ventura in 2016, but portrayed their tumultuous relationship as a “great modern love story.” Agnifilo even described Ventura as a “gangster,” attempting to challenge the narrative of her being a passive victim.

He firmly denied allegations of rape, stating:

“I suggest it did not happen.”

Dismisses Arson & Drug Trafficking Allegations

Agnifilo labeled the accusation that Diddy was involved in the arson of Kid Cudi’s Porsche as “nonsense,” and dismissed claims of drug trafficking as a distraction from the core issues, asserting that any drug use was personal, not criminal enterprise-related.

In a bizarre comparison, he invoked actor Michael B. Jordan to question Cassie’s vulnerability, stating she once turned down a romantic advance from the actor, implying that she was confident and in control of her image and career.

This line of reasoning prompted Assistant U.S. Attorney Maurene Comey to object. Judge Subramanian warned Agnifilo to avoid such remarks, calling them “grossly improper.”

No Witnesses, No Testimony from Diddy

Diddy did not testify, and the defense chose not to call any witnesses throughout the six-week trial, relying entirely on cross-examination and closing arguments.

Prosecutors, led by Assistant U.S. Attorney Christy Slavik, spent five hours on Thursday painting Diddy as the leader of a decades-long criminal enterprise. Their argument included allegations of sex trafficking, drug-fueled private events known as “freak offs,” physical abuse, and witness intimidation. Surveillance footage and multiple testimonies were presented to support these claims.

Slavik compared Diddy’s business operations to a “kingdom,” stating that his inner circle enabled the abuse and protected his image.

Next Steps: Jury Deliberation Begins

The prosecution is expected to offer a final rebuttal before jurors begin deliberations. With intense public interest surrounding the outcome, the jury may take the weekend to review evidence and deliver a verdict.
