Diddy Will Not Testify in His Alleged Sex Trafficking Case

The trial of Diddy will resume on Friday after a recent adjournment due to a juror calling in sick.

According to a report from People, Diddy has decided not to take the stand in his ongoing criminal trial. Multiple sources indicate that both his legal team and prosecutors agree that he should not testify as the case nears the end of its sixth week of witness testimonies. Diddy faces charges including one count of racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion, and two counts of transportation for the purpose of prostitution.

This development comes despite the presence of several high-profile witnesses. Cassie, the singer and former partner of Diddy, testified extensively about their relationship, describing alleged years of abuse and detailed their “freak-off” events. Other witnesses, such as Dawn Richard from Danity Kane and rapper Kid Cudi, also provided testimony. Additionally, multiple alleged victims appeared privately to speak at the trial.

Diddy’s Trial Progress

The trial was temporarily paused on Wednesday after a juror called out sick, according to CNN. Court sessions in New York City will also be suspended on Thursday in observance of Juneteenth.

It remains uncertain how much longer the trial will last. Judge Arun Subramanian has previously indicated a desire to conclude the proceedings by July 4th at the latest. CNN reports that prosecutors intended to rest their case on Friday, though the recent delay may shift that to Monday. The defense team will then need additional days—possibly between two and five—to present their case, followed by closing arguments and jury deliberation.
